Rikke Madsen returns to Everton, gets engaged post-game
Everton forward Rikke Madsen made a memorable comeback over the weekend. She played in her first match in more than a year during a 3-0 victory against Crystal Palace in the Women's Super League. Madsen had been out since giving birth to her daughter, Fritsen. Madsen entered the game as a substitute in the second half. After the match, while celebrating with her team, her boyfriend, Martin Thomsen, surprised her by proposing marriage. "I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long now," Madsen said. She didn't expect such a surprise, especially on the day her baby turned five months old. Madsen accepted the proposal, and the couple celebrated with her teammates. Everton's coach, Brian Sorensen, also joined in the celebration by giving them a bouquet of flowers. Madsen remarked that it was a very happy day and a nice surprise after a long time away from the game.
