Riordan and De La Salle top Bay Area rankings
The Bay Area News Group has released its final boys basketball rankings for the 2025 season. Archbishop Riordan and De La Salle are at the top of the list, showcasing their strong performances throughout the year. Archbishop Riordan secured the number one spot with a record of 29 wins and 2 losses. They won the Central Coast Section Open Division title by defeating St. Ignatius 64-38 but lost to Roosevelt-Eastvale in the state championship. De La Salle follows closely at number two with a record of 28-5. They won the East Bay Athletic League finals against Dougherty Valley and the North Coast Section title against Salesian. Salesian is ranked third with a record of 27-4. They captured the TCAL-Rock Division title but fell short against Riordan in the NorCal semifinals. San Ramon Valley and Oakland Tech round out the top five. The rankings also feature several teams with notable performances. Moreau Catholic won the NCS Division II championship, while The King’s Academy and Dougherty Valley also had successful seasons. Looking ahead to next season, Salesian is expected to remain strong, bringing back several talented players. Riordan will have to rebuild but still has promising young talent. Dublin and St. Ignatius are projected to improve, with key players returning. This list includes teams from leagues mainly in Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, and San Mateo counties.
