Rishabh Pant becomes IPL's most expensive player with Rs 27 crore bid in 2025 auction
Rishabh Pant has become the most expensive player in IPL history, with Lucknow Super Giants bidding Rs 27 crore for him during the 2025 mega auction. This record surpassed Shreyas Iyer's recent bid of Rs 26.75 crore by Punjab Kings. Iyer's brief record was set just before Pant's bid, breaking the previous record of Rs 24.75 crore held by Mitchell Starc. Pant's former team, Delhi Capitals, chose not to retain him, allowing LSG to secure the wicketkeeper-batter. Other notable signings included Arshdeep Singh for Rs 18 crore and Jos Buttler for Rs 15.75 crore, both joining Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans, respectively. The auction took place outside India for the second consecutive year.
