Rishabh Pant becomes most expensive player in IPL history at ₹27 crore

Rishabh Pant has become the most expensive player in IPL history, sold for ₹27 crore to LSG at the IPL 2025 auction. This surpasses the previous record held by Mitchell Starc, who was bought for ₹24.75 crore by Kolkata Knight Riders. Kolkata Knight Riders also made headlines by acquiring Venkatesh Iyer for ₹23.75 crore. Sunrisers Hyderabad secured Pat Cummins for ₹20.50 crore ahead of the 2024 season, marking significant investments in top players. Yuvraj Singh's previous record of ₹16 crore was broken when Punjab Kings used their Right-to-Match card to retain Arshdeep Singh for ₹18 crore. They also acquired Yuzvendra Chahal for the same amount during the auction.
