Rishabh Pant becomes most expensive player in IPL history with Rs 27 crore deal to Lucknow Super Giants

Rishabh Pant has been signed by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, making him the most expensive player in tournament history. He was previously released by Delhi Capitals. Delhi Capitals had used a retention card for Pant at Rs 20.75 crore, but Lucknow Super Giants increased the bid significantly. DC ultimately withdrew from the bidding. Pant returned to IPL after recovering from serious injuries from a car accident in December 2022. He had a solid performance in IPL 2024, scoring 446 runs, and was part of India's T20 World Cup-winning team.
