Rishabh Pant sets IPL auction record at 270 million rupees as New Zealand players shine
Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history, sold for 270 million rupees ($5.480 million) by the Lucknow Super Giants. This surpasses the previous record of 247.5 million rupees set in 2023. Several New Zealand players also secured contracts. Trent Boult was the highest among them, joining the Mumbai Indians for 125 million rupees ($2.537 million). Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra were picked up by the Chennai Super Kings for 62.5 million rupees and 40 million rupees, respectively. The auction in Jeddah features nearly 600 players over two days. Notable players like David Warner and Jonny Bairstow remain unsold but may be picked later.
