Rishabh Pant sets IPL auction record with ₹27 crore deal to join Lucknow Super Giants

Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL auction history, joining the Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 crore during the 2025 mega auction in Jeddah. This surpassed Shreyas Iyer's earlier record of ₹26.75 crore. Pant was previously retained by the Delhi Capitals for ₹20.75 crore but was released before the auction. Lucknow's bid forced Delhi to withdraw their retention. Pant had been with the Delhi Capitals since 2016 and returned to the IPL in 2024 after recovering from serious injuries. He was captain of the Capitals in 2022 and scored 446 runs in the 2024 season.
