Rishabh Pant sets IPL record with ₹ 27 crore bid at mega auction
Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history with a ₹ 27 crore bid from Lucknow Super Giants. Shreyas Iyer followed closely, sold to Punjab Kings for ₹ 26.75 crore, surpassing the previous record held by Mitchell Starc. Both players made themselves available after issues with their former teams. Pant's comeback followed a serious car accident, while Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders to victory earlier this year despite not being on the BCCI's central contracts list. Other notable bids included Yuzvendra Chahal at ₹ 18 crore to Punjab Kings and KL Rahul at ₹ 14 crore to Delhi Capitals. The auction took place in Jeddah, marking the second time it has been held outside India.
