Rising cancer cases among young individuals raise concerns
The American Cancer Society's 2025 report shows a 34% drop in cancer death rates since 1991, but rising cancer cases among younger individuals raise concerns. Rates of breast cancer in young women and gastrointestinal cancers are increasing. Cervical cancer remains a significant issue, with 13,000 expected diagnoses in 2025. Disparities in healthcare access contribute to higher death rates among Black and Native American women compared to White women. Gastrointestinal cancers, including pancreatic and colorectal cancers, are worsening. Colorectal cancer rates have risen among those under 65, while pancreatic cancer continues to have low survival rates, highlighting the need for improved early detection.
