Robbie Savage's Macclesfield FC wins league title

Robbie Savage has successfully led Macclesfield FC to a championship win. The team won 2-1 against Bamber Bridge, securing the Northern Premier League Premier Division title. This victory means Macclesfield is promoted to the National League North for next season. Macclesfield FC was formed in 2020 after the dissolution of Macclesfield Town. Savage took over as manager last summer, marking his first season in charge. Under his leadership, the team has achieved impressive results, winning 29 of their 36 games. They scored 88 goals while allowing only 26. Macclesfield's promotion brings them closer to the English Football League, just two divisions away. There is a significant gap between them and the second-placed team, Worksop, giving them a comfortable lead in the standings. Savage, a former Manchester United player, was already part-owner of the club before becoming the manager. He had stated at the start of the season that he would resign if the team did not achieve promotion. Despite the pressure, he believes in his team's potential. The team’s next match is against Blyth Spartans on March 29, followed by a home game against Workington on April 5.
