Robert Smith to curate Teenage Cancer Trust 2026 concert
Robert Smith, the lead singer of The Cure, will curate the Teenage Cancer Trust's 2026 concert lineup. He takes over this role from Roger Daltrey, who stepped down in 2024 after 24 years of leading the charity's music events. Smith expressed his excitement about the new role, saying it is an honor to be involved with Teenage Cancer Trust. He emphasized the organization's important work and promised that the 2026 shows at the Royal Albert Hall will be memorable. Over the years, the concerts have featured many famous artists, including The Who, Coldplay, and Oasis. Daltrey praised Smith, calling him a "true musical great" and saying he is the right person for this role. The Teenage Cancer Trust focuses on supporting young people diagnosed with cancer. They provide funding for nurses, youth workers, and specialized hospital units in the National Health Service. Since 2000, Daltrey has helped raise over $40 million for the charity. He previously highlighted that the goal is to create a comfortable environment for young patients, as being with peers can greatly aid their recovery.
