Robin Minz debuts for Mumbai Indians against CSK
Mumbai Indians are set to introduce a new player, Robin Minz, in their match against Chennai Super Kings. It marks his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL), despite having only played seven T20 matches so far. Minz, a wicketkeeper batter from Jharkhand, is just 22 years old. He hails from Shimal village in the Gumla district. The match on Sunday will showcase two wicketkeepers from Jharkhand: the legendary MS Dhoni for CSK and Robin Minz for MI. Minz has faced many challenges on his path to the IPL. His first chance to debut was missed last season due to a motorcycle accident. He was previously bought by Gujarat Titans but is now with Mumbai Indians for ₹ 65 lakhs, far less than the ₹ 3.6 crore he was valued at last season. In his short T20 career, Minz has scored 67 runs, with 36 of those coming in a single match against Manipur. The Mumbai Indians coaching staff are optimistic about his potential. They were impressed by his performance in the DY Patil tournament and believe he possesses significant hitting power. Minz is affectionately nicknamed "Jharkhand's Gayle" and "next Dhoni." He is eager to show his skills against his idol, MS Dhoni. The Mumbai Indians hope Minz can make a strong impact, especially since they missed out on signing Dhoni back in 2008.
