Romania rejects Diana Sosoaca's presidential candidacy
Romania's electoral body has rejected far-right politician Diana Sosoaca's presidential bid for the May rerun election, citing her previous exclusion due to her anti-EU and NATO stance. Sosoaca plans to appeal the decision. In contrast, George Simion, leader of the far-right Alliance for the Unity of Romanians, has been approved to run. Simion, who is under investigation for inciting violence, expressed concerns about potential exclusion from the race. The presidential rerun is set for May 4, with a runoff on May 18 if no candidate secures over 50% of the vote. The final list of candidates will be confirmed by March 19.
