kcra.com

A grocery store in Oakdale, California, experienced a roof collapse that injured two people on Monday afternoon. The Modesto Fire Department reported the incident, which occurred at the Cost Less store around 2:25 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found a section of the roof measuring 20 feet by 20 feet had collapsed in the front right corner of the building. The two injured individuals were in the area at the time and managed to escape the debris on their own before help arrived. One of the injured persons was taken to a nearby hospital, but their condition has not been disclosed. The roof collapse also damaged fire sprinkler pipes, causing a significant amount of water to flood the store. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the roof collapse. Notably, the roof was only about a year old.
