Rory McIlroy plans new house in the UK
Rory McIlroy recently discussed building a new house in the UK during a playoff at the 2025 Players Championship. He faced J.J. Spaun in this exciting match, which ended with McIlroy winning after Spaun's shot ended up in the water on the 17th hole. Despite the competition, Spaun revealed that he and McIlroy had a friendly chat during the tournament. Spaun mentioned that they talked about UK vacations, and McIlroy mentioned he was building a house there. Spaun commented on the charm of the UK, especially places like the Cotswolds, known for their historic pubs and quaint villages. After finishing as runner-up, Spaun earned €2.3 million. McIlroy's wife, Erica Stoll, is also interested in spending more time in England. McIlroy noted her desire to move or extend their stays there during a recent Netflix interview. Beyond this new property venture, McIlroy has an impressive collection of homes. He owns a luxurious mansion in Florida, valued at €20 million, and a large estate in California that he bought for €11.25 million. He also has properties in New York and the UAE, as well as a 200-acre estate in Northern Ireland near his hometown.
