Rothesay family divided to support three hockey players
A family from Rothesay has a unique challenge. They are supporting three children who all play hockey on different teams. This often requires the parents to split their time and travel to different cities for games. Krista McCallum is familiar with the life of a hockey mom. She and her husband frequently attend tournaments for their children, including Cassie and Kale, who play university hockey. This week was no different. Cassie was in Waterloo for the U Sports Women's Hockey Championship, while Kale was in Ottawa for the University Cup. Krista went to Ottawa for Kale’s game, and her husband went to support Cassie in Waterloo. Their youngest child, Cohen, was also busy playing in the playoffs for the Amherst Jr. A Ramblers. The family's strong commitment to hockey is evident, as they have a long history with the sport. Kale helped Cassie discover her love for goaltending when they were younger. He would dress her in creative gear to practice in the backyard. The family even had a rink built in their yard to support their children’s passions. Despite the costs and travel involved in supporting their kids' hockey dreams, Krista says it is worth it. She emphasized how proud they are of their children’s dedication, both on and off the ice. The McCallum family continues to prioritize hockey in their lives, relishing every moment spent cheering for their kids.
