Rs 1 crore allocated for Jankipuram sports ground beautification

Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has announced a project to upgrade and beautify the sports ground in Jankipuram, with a budget of Rs 1 crore. This decision comes after complaints from the public were raised during a Janata Darshan event. LDA chairperson Roshan Jacob instructed officials to remove illegal encroachments and clean up garbage from the sports ground. The project’s funding will come from infrastructure allocations. The Greater Lucknow Jankalyan Mahasamiti highlighted the poor condition of the sports ground, stating that it had become unusable due to encroachments and debris. After a survey, authorities estimated costs for refurbishment at Rs 1 crore, prompting Jacob to order immediate cleanup efforts. In addition to the sports ground project, Jacob addressed several complaints regarding illegal constructions during the meeting. One complaint involved a six-story apartment in Moulviganj, which LDA had sealed earlier this year. Jacob ordered that an FIR be filed regarding this issue. There were also reports of illegal construction in Nazarbagh. Jacob directed enforcement actions against continued illegal building practices and emphasized that any new constructions should be demolished promptly if they ignore official notices. Jacob criticized the local police and other agencies for their lack of action and demanded immediate enforcement measures.
