RTI appeal fails; commission doubts activist's intentions
The State Information Commission has rejected an appeal from activist Kasimayan regarding a 2021 Right to Information request. The commission questioned his motives and qualifications, stating the request wasted government resources. Kasimayan sought information about 23 villages in Krishnagiri district, including details on village heads and expenditures. The initial request was denied due to its volume, and subsequent appeals did not yield results. In its recent order, the commission suggested that Kasimayan should have attended local meetings for information instead of filing an RTI application. The commission concluded that the initial denial of information was adequate.
