Russia claims Ukraine launches missiles at Bryansk following U.S. policy shift
Russia's Defense Ministry reported that Ukraine fired six U.S.-made ATACMS missiles at the Bryansk region, claiming to have hit a military weapons depot. This follows U.S. President Biden's recent decision to ease restrictions on Ukraine's use of American weapons. In response, Russia shot down five of the missiles and reported damage from debris, but no casualties occurred. The incident coincides with President Putin signing a revised nuclear doctrine, stating that any conventional attack on Russia supported by a nuclear power will be viewed as a joint attack. Ukrainian officials also reported a deadly Russian drone strike in Sumy, killing at least 12 people, including a child. This attack is part of a series of strikes that have targeted civilian areas in Ukraine, highlighting ongoing tensions in the conflict.
