Russia intercepts over 100 Ukrainian drones in major aerial assault
Russia shot down over 100 Ukrainian drones on Sunday, marking one of the largest drone attacks since the invasion began in February 2022. The drones were intercepted across seven regions, with Volgograd experiencing the most significant activity. In Voronezh, debris from downed drones damaged an apartment block, while a wildfire ignited in Rostov due to falling debris. No casualties were reported, but emergency services are working to control the fire affecting 20 hectares of forest. In Ukraine, 14 civilians were injured in Zaporizhzhia from Russian airstrikes, which damaged residential buildings and infrastructure. Ukrainian officials warned of a potential new Russian offensive in the region, as 22 Russian drones were launched against Ukraine overnight.
