Russia launches new Oreshnik missile at Dnipro in first combat use
Russia has launched a new intermediate-range ballistic missile, named "Oreshnik," at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, causing damage and injuries. This is the first combat use of this experimental missile, which is based on the RS-26 ICBM design. Initially identified as an intercontinental ballistic missile, the Oreshnik is now confirmed as an intermediate-range missile. The U.S. military has labeled it experimental, noting that it could potentially carry various warheads, including nuclear ones. The missile launch follows recent Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory using American-made missiles. Russian President Putin stated the attack was a response to Ukraine's actions, not the new U.S. missile defense base in Poland.
