Russia reports highest soldier casualties in single day during Kursk counter-offensive setback
Russia experienced its deadliest day of the conflict on Monday, with Ukrainian intelligence reporting around 1,950 Russian soldiers killed or injured. This followed Ukraine's successful defense against an initial phase of Russia's counteroffensive in the Kursk region. Ukrainian forces destroyed several Russian armored vehicles, which were caught in a minefield during a daylight attack. The assault involved columns of vehicles carrying infantry, leading to significant losses for Russia. The situation in Kursk has escalated, with Russian troop numbers increasing from 11,000 to 50,000 since Ukraine's counter-offensive began in August. North Korean troops are also reportedly being deployed to support Russia's efforts.
