Russia strikes Odessa region before Trump-Putin talks
Russia conducted new drone strikes in the Odessa region early on March 17, causing fires and damage to a warehouse, store, kindergarten, and residential building. One woman was injured, and about 500 people lost electricity. Emergency workers responded to the scene, extinguishing fires caused by the attacks. The strikes occurred just before scheduled talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin on March 18. President Trump expressed a desire to discuss ending the conflict, mentioning land concessions and power plants during the upcoming call with Putin.
