Russia warns of nuclear response to Ukraine's use of Western missiles
Russia's new nuclear doctrine, signed by President Vladimir Putin, states that Ukraine's use of Western rockets could lead to a nuclear response. This announcement follows U.S. approval for Ukraine to use long-range missiles against targets in Russia. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasized that the doctrine allows for a nuclear attack if a non-nuclear country, like Ukraine, is assisted in aggression against Russia. This change comes amid rising tensions over Ukraine's military capabilities. Moscow has consistently threatened nuclear action during its invasion of Ukraine. Western leaders, including President Joe Biden, are focused on preventing direct conflict between Russia and NATO to avoid escalating tensions.
