Russian airstrike in Sumy kills eight including two children
A Russian airstrike on a nine-story building in Sumy, Ukraine, killed eight people, including two children, and injured dozens. This attack is part of a larger missile and drone assault targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure, described as the most extensive in months. In response, U.S. President Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to use long-range missiles against targets in Russia for the first time. This decision follows Ukraine's ongoing military efforts and North Korea's support for Russia in the conflict. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 144 out of 210 incoming threats during the attack. Damage was reported across various regions, including Kyiv and Odesa, with casualties also occurring in Mykolaiv and the Odesa region.
