Russian evacuees from Kursk reunite with families
Russia has been evacuating civilians from the Kursk region, where fighting has taken place against Ukraine. Hundreds have been moved to safer areas, especially east of the main town, Sudzha. Among those evacuated is Olga Shkuratova, a 62-year-old pensioner. She had not been in contact with her son for seven months while trapped in her village, Goncharovka. Recently, she buried her husband, who was killed in the fighting. After being moved, Olga was able to call her son, expressing her relief and love. Images from Sudzha show significant destruction, with damaged houses and rubble in the streets. While the Kremlin describes the military offensive in the area as a success, many relatives of those still trapped have expressed frustration for the lack of a safe passage for civilians.
