Russian missiles hit Ukrainian academy, killing over 50
On September 3, 2024, two Russian ballistic missiles struck a military academy and a nearby hospital in Poltava, Ukraine, killing over 50 people and injuring more than 200. The attack, one of the deadliest since the war began, caused significant structural damage and left up to 18 individuals trapped under rubble. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy announced an investigation and three days of mourning for the victims.
