RWAs can now report poor roadwork to MCG
Gurgaon’s MCG commissioner has announced that Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) can now submit written complaints about poor road construction by private contractors. This new process allows for road sample testing in the presence of RWAs and contractors. The commissioner emphasized the need for transparency and plans to develop a standard operating procedure for sample collection. Currently, most samples are tested at a single laboratory, but the commissioner suggests using multiple, unidentified labs for unbiased results. Residents have expressed concerns about road quality, citing recent failures in newly laid roads. Some are willing to fund independent testing, as they distrust the MCG's current laboratory. The MCG has also significantly increased its budget for roads and bridges for the upcoming fiscal year.
