The World's Worst Expo is gaining popularity in Sacramento. The free event was held at the Safe Credit Union Convention Center and drew hundreds of people interested in vintage clothing and other goods. Organizers view it as a way to promote second-hand shopping. The event started with two friends wanting to help local vendors sell their products. It quickly grew, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, with crowds lining up around the block. Casey Mann, one of the founders, mentioned that the event provides a rare opportunity for small businesses to connect with customers face-to-face. One of the vendors, Madyson Swanson, traveled from Stockton to sell vintage clothes. Although her college degree is not in fashion, she now enjoys making a living in this field. She noted that more people are inclined to shop sustainably, as vintage shopping has become trendy. Items at the expo are generally priced between $10 and $20, making them appealing to many shoppers. Some attendees, like Lydia Williams from Lake Tahoe, aim to reduce their environmental impact by avoiding new purchases. Williams has focused on buying only second-hand items for the past six months and encourages others to do the same. The World's Worst Expo concluded on March 23. Organizers plan to host another event in Roseville on April 6, aiming to continue promoting vintage shopping and sustainable fashion.
