Sahith Theegala throws club during Valspar Championship
Sahith Theegala had a moment of anger during the Valspar Championship this week. The event is being held at the Innisbrook Resort in Florida, known as a relatively easy course for golfers. However, Theegala clearly disagreed after a frustrating shot. During the second round on Friday, Theegala hit a poor tee shot on the par-3 4th hole. His ball landed in a greenside bunker, which pushed him to drop his club in frustration. He then threw his iron into the woods, a reaction that shocked fans and announcers alike. It is likely that Theegala will face a fine from the PGA Tour for his outburst, as the organization does not tolerate such behavior. He is not the only player feeling the pressure this week. Patton Kizzire also lost his temper on Thursday, kicking his putter after missing a short par putt. He later withdrew from the tournament due to a lower back injury. Despite his anger, Theegala managed to finish the round at 1-over par, bringing his total to 1-under for the tournament. This places him in a tie for 24th position. So far this season, Theegala has made the cut in seven out of eight tournaments but has struggled to secure a top 20 finish besides one at the Genesis Invitational. He has hopes that better managing his emotions could lead to a stronger performance this weekend.
