Saints sign wide receiver Brandin Cooks to improve offense
The New Orleans Saints have made a new addition to their wide receiver lineup by signing Brandin Cooks. Cooks is returning to the team where he began his NFL career in 2014. This move comes as the Saints work to improve their offense after a disappointing finish last season. Last year, the Saints struggled offensively, ranking 24th in points scored and 23rd in passing yards. They only had one player, Chris Olave, who made an impact at the wide receiver position. No player on the team exceeded 550 receiving yards in 2024. Cooks was drafted by the Saints as the 20th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. During his first three seasons with the team, he recorded 215 catches for 2,861 yards and 20 touchdowns. After leaving New Orleans, he played for several teams including the New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys. However, concerns remain about Cooks' recent performance. Last season, he had a total of just 259 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 10 games. This marked a significant decline in his statistics, and it's uncertain how effective he will be moving forward.
