Sainz hints at FW47 upgrades for Chinese GP
Williams driver Carlos Sainz has suggested that more upgrades for the FW47 Formula 1 car are on the way. After a strong start to the 2025 season in Australia, he expressed excitement about the team's progress. Alex Albon finished fifth in the season opener, marking a positive beginning for Williams. However, Sainz is cautious ahead of the upcoming Chinese Grand Prix. He noted that the Shanghai International Circuit is very different from the Bahrain International Circuit, where the team conducted pre-season testing. This makes it hard to predict how well the FW47 will perform in China. Sainz experienced a crash during the opening lap in Melbourne, ending his race early. Despite this setback, he believes in the car's potential. He pointed out that the Shanghai track has long, fast corners, which will test the car's performance in a way that has not yet been seen this season. He compared the Shanghai track to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, emphasizing that it will help teams gauge their competitive pace. Sainz expects that the long combined corners will reveal where each team's strengths and weaknesses lie. He sees the race in China as an important measurement for all teams as they assess their cars' capabilities.
