Sajjad Lone praised for advocating student rights in Kashmir
Sajjad Lone, the chairman of the People's Conference, has received unexpected praise from the Justice and Development Front (JDF). This group is made up of members from the banned Jamaat e Islami. Traditionally, Jamaat leaders have criticized Lone, but now they are acknowledging his efforts in the legislative assembly. Recently, Lone raised concerns about students enrolled in schools run by the Falah I Aam Trust, which is affiliated with Jamaat e Islami. He highlighted that these students are facing issues because they are not allowed to take their exams. Lone emphasized the issue during an assembly session, calling for intervention from the Chief Minister. The J&K Police have taken actions against the Trust, including attaching properties and de-recognizing its schools. Lone argued that the situation not only affects educational rights but also impacts thousands of students. This marks a significant shift for the JDF, as it is the first time they have praised any leader since their formation last year. Their leadership recently announced intentions to participate in local elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
