Salem officials warn against unsafe summer cool drinks
Food Safety officials in Salem have warned the public about adulterated cool drinks as summer temperatures rise. Many roadside fruit and juice shops are now operating, increasing the risk of unsafe products being sold. These drinks often do not meet safety guidelines, using ordinary water and excessive food coloring. Officials emphasize that legitimate cool drinks should be made with Reverse Osmosis water and properly labeled. To combat this issue, 21 food safety officers are monitoring local shops. Traders selling adulterated drinks will face fines, as officials aim to protect public health during the busy summer season.
