Samsung has announced that the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge will feature a back made of a lighter and stronger material instead of glass. This change aims to enhance durability while keeping the phone slim, with a thickness of less than 6mm. The new material is rumored to be ceramic, paired with an aluminum frame. This shift marks a return to a design choice Samsung previously explored, as ceramic backs were used in earlier models like the Galaxy S10 Plus. Ceramic materials have been used in smartphones before but did not gain widespread popularity due to manufacturing complexities.
