Samsung Display plans to increase shipments of its quantum dot (QD)-OLED monitor panels by 50% this year. The company announced its goal recently and is working on boosting sales for new products. Last year, Samsung shipped 1.43 million QD-OLED panels for computer monitors. The company expects this number to grow by over 50% in 2025. The demand for OLED panels has been rising significantly. Market tracker Omdia reported that global shipments of OLED monitor panels reached about 2 million units last year, which is a big jump from 820,000 in 2023 and just 8,300 in 2021. Samsung Display currently holds a large share of the market, with 71.2% of OLED panels for monitors. To keep up with the growing demand, the company is expanding its lineup of QD-OLED products. Earlier this year, it launched a 27-inch ultra HD monitor featuring high pixel density, providing excellent image quality for gamers. In addition, Samsung plans to introduce a 27-inch QHD monitor in the first half of this year. This new monitor will support a refresh rate of 500 hertz, the highest among current self-emissive monitors, promising smooth visuals and quick response times. Brad Jung, the head of Large Display Marketing at Samsung, noted that the shift from LCD to OLED technology is gaining momentum. He expressed the company's commitment to introduce innovative products to meet customer expectations.
