Samsung leads South Korean sales for 22 years
Samsung Electronics has been the top-selling company in South Korea for 22 years in a row, from 2002 to 2023. This information comes from a report by the Korea CXO Institute, which analyzed company sales data. The report excludes financial companies and those that changed ownership due to management issues. Samsung's annual sales have grown significantly over the years. In 1984, the company reported sales of 1.36 trillion won, equivalent to about $928 million. By 2023, that figure rose to 170.4 trillion won. The report also highlighted that Samsung and six other companies have been in the top 50 South Korean firms every year since 1984. The other firms that have consistently ranked include Hyundai Motor Co., LG Electronics Inc., Samsung C&T Corp., LG Chem Ltd., Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., and Korean Air Co. Samsung C&T led sales rankings 14 times between 1985 and 2001, while Hyundai Motor has been a top performer in recent years. In another development, Samsung E&A announced a new contract worth 518.6 billion won, or approximately $354.2 million. This contract is to build a biopharmaceutical production facility in Songdo, which is near Seoul. The facility will produce materials for the biopharmaceutical industry and is expected to be completed by 2027.
