Samsung plans a new tri-folding phone design
Samsung might be planning to launch a new type of folding phone. Known for its innovative designs, the company has been a leader in the folding phone market since introducing the Galaxy Fold in 2019. Later this year, Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7. In addition to these models, a new concept for a tri-folding flip phone has emerged from a recent patent. This new device would feature a z-shape design with two hinges, which is different from the current Z Flip 6 that simply folds in half. The patent shows a thick phone when folded and a long, slim device when opened. It also features a triple camera on one side. However, it's important to note that not all patents become actual products, so this tri-fold flip phone may never be released. At the Mobile World Congress in 2025, another company, Infinix, unveiled a concept tri-fold phone called the Zero Series Mini Tri-Fold. This device aims to be more than a smartphone, functioning as a hands-free fitness tool and compact camera. While Samsung is not the first to explore tri-fold designs, it may be the one to make the concept popular with consumers. There are also rumors that Samsung is working on another type of folding device, a book-style model to compete with Huawei's recently launched Mate XT Ultimate. This book-style device may come out around the same time as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, potentially making it the first tri-fold product to hit the market.
