Samsung's Galaxy S25 to feature Qualcomm chips exclusively due to Exynos production issues
Samsung Electronics will launch the Galaxy S25 series on January 22, but all models will use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite processor instead of Samsung's Exynos. This marks the first time in two years that Exynos will not be included. The decision to exclude Exynos is due to production issues, as the yield rate did not meet the required 60%. This change raises concerns about increased product prices and Samsung's competitiveness in the semiconductor market. Samsung's reliance on Qualcomm may further weaken its foundry business, which has already faced challenges. The company reported a record deficit of over 2 trillion won in the last quarter of 2024, highlighting ongoing struggles in its chip production sector.
