San Diego FC prepares for MLS Expansion Draft as roster building begins
San Diego FC is preparing for its first Major League Soccer season in 2025 by finalizing its roster. The MLS Expansion Draft will occur on December 11, allowing the team to select up to five players from an eligible list. Notable players left unprotected include Xande Silva from Atlanta United and Ben Bender from Charlotte FC. San Diego FC can also consider players like DeJuan Jones from Columbus Crew and Paul Arriola from FC Dallas to strengthen their squad. Each MLS team protected 12 players, with additional protections for Home Grown and Generation Adidas players. Teams will receive $50,000 in General Allocation Money for any player selected during the draft.
