San Diego officer arrested for child pornography possession
A police officer from San Diego State University was arrested last week in connection with child pornography charges. The arrest happened off-campus on Thursday after a federal investigation by Homeland Security's cyber crime unit. The following day, the officer was charged with possession of child pornography. Officials from the university confirmed the arrest but did not release the officer's name, rank, or how long he had worked for the department, citing privacy laws. SDSU Police Chief Gregory Murphy described the situation as shocking. He emphasized that no one should face exploitation and acknowledged the pain it has caused within the university community. Murphy stated that the department is in the process of firing the officer. The police department has referred all additional inquiries about the case to Homeland Security Investigations. As of now, there is no further information available, and officials from ICE have not responded to requests for comments.
