San Francisco mayor appoints Dean Crispen as new fire chief

San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie has appointed Battalion Chief Dean Crispen as the new fire chief. This is Lurie's first major appointment since taking office on January 7. Crispen replaces interim chief Sandy Tong, who was appointed by former Mayor London Breed. Crispen has 34 years of experience in the fire department. He has served as captain in various neighborhoods and has acted as incident commander at over 50 events, including responding to the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
