Sanders praises Trump's fentanyl and border security policies
Senator Bernie Sanders recently shared some praise for President Donald Trump during an interview. He acknowledged two specific areas where he believes Trump is doing well: handling fentanyl and improving border security. Sanders stated that stronger border measures are necessary and emphasized that illegal immigration is not acceptable. Sanders’ views mark a shift from his stance during the 2020 presidential campaign. Back then, he called for less aggressive immigration enforcement. He criticized policies such as the border wall and proposed changes to how illegal immigration is treated. Now, he calls for comprehensive immigration reform instead. He warned that mass deportations would harm the U.S. economy. Sanders pointed out that many undocumented workers hold essential jobs in sectors like agriculture and meatpacking. He believes that guest worker programs and reform are needed to address this issue. During the interview, Sanders also acknowledged problems with immigration under President Biden, admitting that more could have been done. In addition, he has been active in various rallies, including events with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, where they encourage inclusivity and fighting for others.
