Sandiganbayan acquits Enrile, Reyes, and Napoles in pork barrel plunder case

The Sandiganbayan Third Division has acquitted former Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile, his ex-chief of staff Jessica Reyes, and businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles in a P172-million plunder case linked to the pork barrel scam. The court ruled that the prosecution did not prove their guilt beyond reasonable doubt. Despite the acquittal, Napoles will remain in jail due to other plunder convictions related to the same scam. The case, which began in 2014, involved allegations of misuse of Enrile's Priority Development Assistance Fund. Two co-accused remain at large, while Enrile, now 100 years old, had been under hospital arrest.
