Sangrur demolishes illegal structures of drug traffickers

Authorities in Sangrur have demolished two illegal structures linked to drug traffickers. This action took place on Tuesday in Ram Nagar Basti, a neighborhood in Sangrur city. The demolition was carried out by police and the local administration using bulldozers. The operation was led by Sangrur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sartaj Singh Chahal and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Charanjot Singh Walia. SSP Chahal emphasized that this action is part of a larger campaign by the Punjab government to eliminate drug smuggling in the region. During this operation, several police cases were filed against the residents of the demolished buildings. Rajpal Singh and Rajwinder Kaur faced multiple charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Another woman named Lakho also faced charges related to her residence. SDM Walia warned that anyone who occupies or builds on government land illegally will face consequences. He assured the public that the local administration and police are united in their fight against drug trafficking in Punjab. This initiative is part of the Punjab government's "Yudh Nashian Virudh" campaign aimed at tackling drug abuse and trafficking effectively.
