Santiago Abascal appointed chairman of Patriots for Europe group in EU parliament
Santiago Abascal, leader of Spain's Vox party, has been appointed chairman of the Patriots for Europe group in the EU parliament. This decision was made during a general assembly in Paris. Vox left the European Conservatives and Reformists group in July to join Patriots for Europe, citing a chance to combat various political coalitions. Abascal was the only candidate for the chairman position. The Patriots for Europe group includes several far-right parties from across Europe, with key figures like Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and leaders from France and Italy. The group recently discussed migration issues at a meeting in Brussels.
