Vice President Sara Duterte expressed disappointment over the delay in the construction of the Mindanao Railway Project during a press conference in Butuan City. She highlighted that the project, part of her father's "Build Build Build" program, remains unfunded. The first phase of the railway, estimated at P81.6 billion, was expected to start in 2022. However, the government is now exploring new financing options after withdrawing from loan talks with China. Despite the delays, the Mindanao Development Authority confirmed that the project is not canceled and is finalizing terms with the Department of Transportation. The railway will eventually connect major cities across Mindanao.
