Sarines and Padilla win Uswing Mojing tournament titles
Lisa Sarines and Tristan Padilla won their divisions in the Uswing Mojing Junior World Qualifying tournament at The Country Club in Laguna. The final day of the competition was exciting, full of tension and drama. Sarines took home the title in the girls' 13-14 division. She secured her victory by making a crucial birdie on the 53rd hole, finishing with a score of seven-over-par 79. Sarines won by two shots over Johanna Uyking, who ended with an 82 after a final hole bogey. Padilla faced a tough challenge in the boys' 15-18 division. After starting the final round with a five-stroke lead, he faltered, allowing Shinichi Suzuki to catch up. Both ended with a total score of 235, pushing Padilla into sudden death. He bounced back by sinking a six-foot putt for par, winning the crown. In other divisions, Reese Ng won the girls' 15-18 category with a total of 240, finishing four shots ahead after an 82. Ralph Batican dominated the boys' 13-14 division, finishing with 238, an impressive 10 strokes ahead of his closest competitor, Mico Ungco. Both Sarines and Padilla earned free trips to the United States for the upcoming World Championship. They proved their skills against the best players in their age groups.
