Sarpanchs seek Haryana CM’s help for bus service
In a surprising move, 18 sarpanchs from the Sangrur district of Punjab reached out to Haryana's Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, for help. They requested the start of a bus service from Sangrur to Dhamtan Sahib in Jind district and the addition of a train stop there. This meeting took place on Sunday evening. The sarpanchs said they turned to Saini after they couldn’t get an appointment with Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Saini responded positively and agreed to begin the Haryana Roadways bus service from Jind to Sangrur, specifically to Dhamtan Sahib. He also contacted the railways minister to propose adding a stop for the Nanded-bound train at Dhamtan Sahib. Dhamtan Sahib Gurudwara is important to many, especially for devotees from Punjab and surrounding areas. Currently, many have to travel to Jind to reach the gurudwara due to a lack of direct train services. A statement from Saini’s office emphasized that the requests were genuine and needed, rather than politically motivated. The bus service is set to start on Monday, and there is hope for quick action regarding the train stop as well.
