SASAMI releases bold pop album, "Blood on the Silver Screen."
SASAMI, an alternative artist from Los Angeles, is gaining attention in the pop music scene. Her latest album, "Blood on the Silver Screen," was just released and displays her growth as a musician. Known for her bold and unconventional style, SASAMI's album cover features a striking image of her that she acknowledges would have shocked her younger self. Growing up in the strict Unification Church, SASAMI describes her upbringing as restrictive and traditional regarding love and relationships. She feels that her childhood did not hint at her current artistic freedom. After starting her career with the band Cherry Glazerr, she sought to establish herself as a solo artist. Her first two albums showcased different musical styles, ranging from introspective indie to metal-influenced tracks. With her new album, she embraces pop music while challenging the conventional expectations of the genre. SASAMI wants to break free from labels and genres, stating, “I can do whatever I want.” She believes the pop music landscape today is more diverse, allowing different voices to be heard. SASAMI has crafted "Blood on the Silver Screen" to explore themes of love in various artistic styles. She likens it to the concept of love in the film "Everything Everywhere All At Once," presenting love as complex and multifaceted. The album showcases her unique take on romance, moving away from the traditional views instilled during her childhood. Despite her unconventional approach, SASAMI looks back at her upbringing with a sense of understanding rather than anger. She proposes a reimagined version of Eve from the Bible in her song “Nothing but a Sad Face On,” portraying her as a rebellious figure in a modern context. SASAMI's new work reflects her journey and evolution as an artist, solidifying her place in the vibrant pop world of 2025.
